Poste: Senior Data Privacy Attorney H/F - 10-month Fixed Term Contract

The Senior Data Privacy Attorney H/F is an integral part of Latham’s Technology & Information Services team. This fixed term contract role will be responsible for working within the Global Data Privacy Office (“GDPO”), while working closely with the firm’s Procurement function and Security Review Team to review vendor contracts and other commercial relationships involving the transfer of personal data, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating relevant contracts and ensuring requirements relating to international transfers of personal data are met. This role will be located in either our London, Paris, Madrid, or Munich office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.


Other key responsibilities include:

  • Working with members of the GDPO and other key internal stakeholders to review proposed projects, which involve the collection or utilisation of personal data, advising on privacy risks, and compliance with local data privacy laws; where necessary, carrying out data protection impact assessments
  • Working with Information Governance and other privacy attorneys in the firm to respond to requests from individuals to exercise their rights under applicable data privacy laws in the UK, EU and USA, including requests to access or delete personal data
  • Working with members of the GDPO to implement measures necessary to demonstrate compliance with applicable data privacy laws, including managing and updating records of processing activities, assisting with data mapping, and vendor management reviews
  • Reviewing and updating transparency notices, privacy policies, and procedures globally
  • Coordinating and assisting with data privacy audits of the Firm’s offices worldwide

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Exhibit well-developed and professional interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with people at all organisational levels of the firm
  • Demonstrate strong project management and organisational skills, including the ability to manage time well, prioritise effectively, anticipate obstacles, and handle multiple deadlines
  • Possess the ability to take initiative in driving improvements to the Firm’s compliance posture

And have:

  • A JD or equivalent from an accredited law school, with a CIPP/E, CIPM or similar privacy professional qualification preferred
  • Experience practicing law
  • Experience in advising on UK and EU data privacy laws, including GDPR
  • Experience of providing data privacy advice to law firms or professional services firms
